Competence & Training Events

The Competence & Training committee organises events which include presentations and discussion on a variety of personnel-related topics.

These generally take the form of workshops which bring together members from around the world representing the key stakeholders - contractors, training establishments and personnel agencies - to help address particular issues, facilitate communication and help ensure these parties work well together to ensure a properly skilled and competent workforce.

Competence Assurance and Assessment

In 1999 IMCA set out its framework of guidance on competence assurance and assessment, that enables contractors to demonstrate the competence of personnel working in a variety of safety-critical positions.

During its developments and subsequently at intervals since initial implementation, the association has held a number of workshops where members have been able to discuss their requirements, help develop IMCA's suite of guidance and to identify and successfully address potential barriers to implementation and other specific issues. Training Issues

IMCA facilitated a seminar in February 2007 that brought together training establishments, agencies and contractors from around the world.

In the light of skills and recruitment shortages being faced and predicted throughout the industry, members were keen to discuss the various issues involved, identify contractor requirements for training course outcomes and work together on ensuring future provision meets industry needs.
