IMCA produces a wide variety of documentation to inform and guide members, helping them ensure safe and efficient operations and keep abreast of technological, operational and regulatory developments:

  • Publications including industry good practice guidance and technical reports
  • Audit templates to aid efficiency
  • Logbooks and other competence records
  • Contracting principles, discussion documents and standard contract templates
  • Briefing and consultation documents on a variety of topics

Events

IMCA holds a wide variety of events around the globe for its members and other interested parties to help enable discussion on safety, environmental, technological, regulatory and other issues:

  • IMCA annual seminar - the association's flagship event, held in locations around the world with sessions including presentations and discussion on industry issues and technical matters, workshops, an exhibition and a social programme too
  • Safety seminars - bringing together onshore and offshore personnel for presentations, sharing of lessons learnt from incidents, group discussion sessions and highlighting successful safety initiatives
  • Regional section meetings - facilitating discussion of local issues and involvement in the world-wide work programme
  • Briefing seminars for members, potential members, clients, regulators and other interested parties
  • Social and networking events
  • Other workshops and meetings on various topics of interest to members

Incident Reporting

IMCA facilitates sharing of information on incidents to help identify and common causes and trends, address issues through development of guidance, liaison with equipment manufacturers and training providers and other work items, aiming to avoid repeat incidents and help its members further enhance the safety of their own operations:

  • Safety flashes - disseminating crucial alerts on incidents, lessons learnt and potential hazards identified to members around the world
  • DP station keeping incident analysis by the Marine Division
  • Lifting incident analysis under the Crane & Winch Operations Workgroup
  • Sharing of security-related alerts and information via the Security Task Force
  • Un-minuted discussion of safety-related incidents at IMCA committee, workgroup and regional meetings

Representation and Industry Promotion

IMCA regularly liaises with a variety of regulatory and industry bodies at global, regional and national levels with formal representation on a number of committees. Through this involvement, IMCA can promote the industry and can brief, represent and lobby on behalf of members on matters likely to affect them. By working together, duplication of effort can be avoided and common solutions found to issues affecting the wider industry. Such involvement also raises the association's profile and gives a platform to communicate its messages. Click here for more details.

Careers and recruitment is a particular area where IMCA aims to help its members, by promoting the exciting opportunities available to those beginning or changing career, raising awareness of the broad range of roles and interesting career paths available, as well as providing guidance on the skills and training required by employers.
