IMCA MARINE SEMINAR - AN UPDATE
With delegates registered from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Japan, The Netherlands, Nigeria, Norway, UK and USA next month's IMCA - The International Marine Contractors Association - Marine Division Annual Seminar & Workshops is shaping up well.
Being held in Stavanger 13-14 September, the tenth event in the annual series features parallel sessions on offshore diving for the first time in addition to its well-established station keeping theme. The focus over the two days will be firmly on practical experience and new ideas.
Sponsored by OLF (Oljeindustriens Landsforening - the Norwegian Oil Industry Association) this years parallel sessions on offshore diving on the Day One bring together IMCA's Marine and Diving Divisions for the first time at the event. The opening day features both cross-industry and sector-specific presentations and workshops; then on Day Two presentations and workshops continue the long established station keeping focus and will relate to DP and other specialist marine specific topics.
The small exhibition enabling delegates to learn about the latest technological developments and services from IMCA members supplying the marine contracting sector including ABB, Alstom, C-Mar, Fugro Seastar, Kongsberg Simrad, Nautronix, Sonardyne and Thales GeoSolutions.
Networking always plays an important role in the event - it's the one event in the year at which key operational personnel from the DP world meet. IMCA expects that, thanks to the newly introduced parallel diving session, it will come to fill a similar role for offshore diving. There is a welcoming reception for delegates on Wednesday 12 September, a seminar dinner on 13 September and a barbecue at Flor and Fjere to close the seminar on 14 September.
