Emily Comyn Technical Adviser - Regulatory Affairs
Emily Comyn joined the IMCA secretariat in March 2009 as its fifth Technical Adviser, focusing on international legislative affairs.
Emily monitors and lobbies where appropriate in such key areas as the International Maritime Organization (IMO), at which IMCA has non-governmental observer status, and other sources of international, regional and national legislation which affects the maritime industries and IMCA members in particular.
Prior to joining IMCA, Emily worked at the International Chamber of Shipping. As Advisor (Shipping Policy), she was responsible for representing international ship operators on customs and trade facilitation issues at intergovernmental fora such as IMO and the World Customs Organization (WCO), as well as monitoring operational developments in the Panama and Suez Canals in her role as Secretary of the ICS Canals Sub-Committee. In addition, she was also Assistant Secretary of ISOA (International Support Vessel Owners' Association), providing a common forum for international OSV operators.
