Safety Where it Counts: At the Sharp End
9-10 February 2005, Murrayfield stadium, Edinburgh, UK
IMCA's fourth major seminar dedicated to onshore and offshore personnel responsible for safety took place on 9-10 February 2006 at Murrayfield international rugby stadium in Edinburgh, UK, with over 120 delegates in attendance.
Building on the success of previous events Elements for Safety (Ajax Amsterdam, 2005), No Harm: What's the Problem (St James' Park, Newcastle, 2003) and Working Safer Offshore (Old Trafford, Manchester, 2002), this event was very well attended by a wide range of industry professionals from both offshore and onshore. The programme included presentations on many safety-related subjects, including a very topical update on security issues. The highlight of the first day was a moving and very personal presentation on the effects of a serious industrial accident and, on the second day, a thought-provoking presentation was given on cultural differences in business life. Productive discussion followed each item with many ideas and experiences shared, generating actions for future work by IMCA.
A good deal of positive and constructive feedback was received from delegates across the two days, who judged the seminar to be a resounding success.
A CD has been produced for delegates and other members, bringing together the full set of presentations and reports on the discussions. Additional copies are available to members on request.
