Health, Safety and the Environment:
Covering the Global HSE Bases
24-25 February 2010, Singapore Marriot Hotel, Singapore
A record-breaking 160 delegates gathered at the Marriot Hotel in Singapore on 24-25
February 2010 for the eighth IMCA safety seminar, on the themeSafety is our common
language.
Once again, this year's seminar featured a safety share fair at which members brought
and displayed samples of their own safety promotional material.
The two day programme featured a wide range or presentations on a variety of safety-related
topics, including safety in DP operations, real-time telemedicine for saturation
divers, building a safety culture, and personal responsibility for safety. Occupational
health was also well-represented with presentations on Dengue Fever and tick borne
diseases. Delegates took part in round-table discussions on preparing for the unthinkable,
safety statistics and the role of the HSE adviser, as well as possible future work
items for the SEL committee.
Feedback from delegates indicated thast the seminar was a step in the right direction
towards establishing safety as a common language everywhere, and moving towards
an incident and injury free workplace.
