Work Programme

The following work programme was agreed at the beginning of 2006. It sets out the technical projects to be addressed by the SEL Core Activity over the coming year, in line with the Association's overall objectives.

• New projects and continuation/finalisation of projects underway:
  • Guidance on the training of supervisors (with TCPC core activity)
  • Behavioural-based safety study
  • Develop third DVD on safety promotion
  • Review of basic safety and emergency training
  • Issues/guidance relating to malaria
  • Development of best practice guidance relating to familiarisation on health and security topics for personnel in locations foreign to their home countries
  • Occupational health guidance
   
• Ongoing initiatives:
  • Safety flash system - continue to issue flashes and promote use
  • Safety statistics - carry out exercise for 2005
  • Continue development of IMCA pocket safety cards
  • Develop IMCA safety posters
  • Information sharing on piracy and security issues
  • Promotion of web-based forum for sharing safety-related information
   
• Third-party liaison:
  • Follow liaison with US Coast Guard on various issues
  • Continue dialogue with clients, working towards consistency in client operations, especially with regard to security issues and avoiding unnecessary repeat audits
  • Participation in OGP project to develop malaria guidance
