Training, Certification & Personnel Competence (TCPC)

IMCA's Training, Certification & Personnel Competence Core Activity is responsible for developing competence standards for offshore personnel in safety critical positions. Also included in its work programme is co-ordination of training and certification initiatives and work on recruitment and careers promotion issues.

As one of the Association's 'core activities', all members benefit from its work. Its various activities are outlined below and detailed on the pages linked therefrom and in the left-hand navigation panel.

Work Programme

In line with the Association's overall and strategic objectives, each year the world-wide TCPC Core Committee sets out a programme of specific projects and objectives which it will work towards achieving. Click here for more details on the current programme.

Competence Assurance & Assessment

The IMCA guidance on competence assurance and assessment provides contractors with a framework to demonstrate, to their clients and others, the competence of their safety-critical personnel across the full spectrum of IMCA members' operations and its four divisions. Click here for full information on the guidance, including an extensive overview, your questions answered and a wide range of supporting documentation.

Careers in the Marine Contracting Industry

In addition to a range of material already available from IMCA on careers in the marine contracting industry, IMCA's TCPC core activity is working on the identification of areas where skills shortages are likely to arise and is looking at ways of promoting awareness in government, academia and schools about the need and opportunities for talented and skilled personnel in the offshore industry.

Certification

IMCA is involved with various third parties and has a number of its own initiatives relating to certification, in line with the extensive guidance on training and education produced by its various committees (see below).

Training & Education

As part of assisting its contractor members in ensuring the competence of their personnel, IMCA has developed extensive sector-specific guidance on training and education of personnel to ensure they are suitably equipped with the skills required to work in the offshore industry.
