Competence Assurance & Assessment
IMCA's competence assurance and assessment guidance provides a framework within which its contractor members can demonstrate the competence of their personnel to clients and regulators. Much effort has been put in by members and five years after its launch, the guidance was thoroughly reviewed and updated in the light of experience, with new documentation published in July 2003.
There has been an increasing global emphasis on the importance of using competent personnel, something that is set to continue. With a focus on workplace assessment, where skills and behaviour are considered, and with an international perspective, the IMCA framework provides a mechanism for the demonstration of competence now demanded internationally in the offshore industry.

Also available is IMCA C 007 - "Guidance on Assessor Training", which sets out the areas which should generally be covered during training for assessors, particularly important for those areas of the world without national qualifications in assessment skills. Click here for full details.

Ongoing Work
IMCA's TCPC core committee remains dedicated to assisting members in the key area. As part of its ongoing work programme, it is currently developing a set of FAQs, which will appear here in due course, plans a further workshop to review progress and deal with any current issues through the sharing of best practice and new ideas, and will periodically review the range of guidance produced to date.
