Competence Assurance & Assessment Workshops
The IMCA TCPC Committee holds regular Competence Assurance & Assessment workshops for members implementing the IMCA guidance into their own competence schemes.
The most recent, in November 2003, built and expanded upon the format of previous events, in response to feedback from previous participants. The general format of these workshops now includes:
- Questionnaires - sent out in advance of the workshop to all IMCA members, enabling the secretariat to analyse members' overall progress in implementing IMCA guidance; identify areas of common interest to be addressed and provide feedback into the workshops sessions;
- General Discussion Sessions - bringing together all IMCA members implementing competence schemes to discuss IMCA guidance in general, resolve general issues and to identify any action IMCA can take to further assist its members;
- Expert Third-Party Speakers - so far, these have included client representatives, a lawyer, an insurance industry professional and a representative of the airline industry to outline external expectations, how IMCA's guidance can be used to meet these expectations, experience with comparable initiatives and any additional areas to be considered;
- Extended Syndicate Discussion Sessions - for each IMCA technical division, allowing members implementing among specific sectors of personnel and operations to come together and discuss/ resolve issues particular to them.
