Industry Guide - Offshore Diving Sector

IMCA Diving Division members carry out offshore diving operations around the world, in particular in support of offshore oil and gas activities. (IMCA is not involved in inshore, inland, port, civil or recreational diving).

Divers may be supplied with air from the surface or may use diving bells with various breathing gases. Members’ operations range from shallow waters to the deepest saturation diving.

Diving tasks include: inspection and survey; repair and maintenance; construction; installation and decommissioning of a variety of subsea structures.

Diving contractors include both those who own and operate their own dive support vessels and those who have diving systems or teams but who dive using the vessels or equipment of others.

IMCA Diving Division members also include a variety of diving equipment suppliers, specialist consultants, training establishments, personnel agencies, oil company clients and regulatory bodies.
