Diving System and Management Audits
IMCA's Diving Division is concerned with the promotion of safe practice in the offshore diving industry and to further that aim has produced a number of guidelines on safe operations, equipment maintenance and testing regimes and personnel competence and certification.
In response to a number of queries from members and third parties, the Association has noted the following with regard to auditors:
IMCA has set out criteria for different types of auditors carring out either management or DESIGN-type (equipment and facilities-related) audits. However, while the secretariat identifies auditors from time to time to undertake audits for IMCA, the Association does not have and does not intend to create a list of 'IMCA-approved' auditors.
Members wishing to obtain a copy of the information note on criteria for selecting auditors should contact the IMCA office, referencing information note IMCA D 18/01. The document sets out 'competence assurance' criteria in a similar format to that developed more widely for competence assurance and assessment schemes, covering the various aspects of competence, detailed knowledge requirements and the ways of demonstrating such competence with relevant acceptance criteria.
