Equipment Inspection & Testing Regime
IMCA's International Code of Practice for Offshore Diving (IMCA D 014) sets out a framework of guidance on safe and efficient diving operations. The code gives advice on all aspects of diving operations, including safety considerations for diving equipment and the need for regular inspection and maintenance.
To ellaborate on the advice contained in the code, IMCA's Diving Division has two key documents related to equipment inspection and testing, based on the cumulative experience of its contractor members, operating world-wide, and regularly reviewed and updated as required to ensure they continue to provide relevant guidance applicable world-wide.
Code of Practice on the Initial and Periodic Examination, Testing and Certification of Diving Plant and Equipment (IMCA D 018)
This code of practice gives examples of good practice and provides advice on the ways in which inspection and testing of diving plant and equipment should be carried out. For further details, click here.
DESIGN - Diving Equipment Systems Inspection Guidance Note
Complementing the above code of practice, DESIGN specifies systematic periodic examination and testing requirements for generic items of plant and equipment, providing the basics of the certification that the diving contractor must include in a plant and equipment register and the basis for a planned maintenance system, referring back to IMCA D 018 for detailed information on testing requirements.
Available both in printed format and electronically, the newly revised DESIGN is available in two separate volumes:
