Work Programme
The following work programme was agreed at the beginning of 2006. It sets out the technical projects to be addressed by the Diving Division over the coming year, in line with the Association's overall objectives.
- New projects and continuation/finalisation of projects underway:
- Publish DESIGN for surface supplied mixed gas diving operations
- Publish DESIGN for mobile/portable surface supplied diving operations
- Publish guidance on isolations and barriers
- Publish information note relating to revised DMAC 28 guidance
- Publish guidance on air lifting
- Guidance on the safe application and use of mattresses
- DVD-based introduction on diving from vessels of opportunity
- Review of NUI test handbook
- Continue work on operational communications (with Marine Division)
- Develop approach to recognition of initial diver training (with TCPC core activity)
- Produce guidance on handling LSA scale
- Guidance regarding diving and radioactive sources
- Guidance on use of explosives
- Consideration of need for further guidance on dive technicians
- Review/update existing guidance:
- Revise guidance on thermal testing of hyperbaric lifeboats
- Review of diver medic training guidance (with TCPC core activity)
- AODC 035 - Code of practice for the safe use of electricity under water
- AODC 049 - Code of practice for the use of high pressure water jetting equipment by divers
- IMCA D 010 - Diving operations from vessels operating in dynamically positioned mode
- IMCA D 015 - Mobile/portable surface supplied diving systems - to include information on RIBs in harsh environments
- IMCA D 016 - Underwater air lift bags
- IMCA D 022 - The Diving Supervisor's Manual
- IMCA D 028 - Chain lever hoists in the offshore subsea environment
- IMCA D 034 - Norway/UK Regulatory Guidance for Offshore Diving (NURGOD)
- Continue phased review of AODC guidance as time permits
- Ongoing initiatives:
- Undertake annual North Sea statistics exercise for 2004-5
- Third-party liaison:
- Continue to support the work of other relevant bodies, e.g. EDTC, DMAC, OLF
- Work with OLF on possible project for long-term health surveillance of divers
