IMCA Offshore Diving Supervisor and Life Support Technician Schemes: Minimum Requirements for Certification

The IMCA Offshore Diving Supervisor Scheme covers all offshore personnel, either acting as a Diving Supervisor of Superintendent, or gaining experience in order to become one. It applies to personnel supervising dives using surface-orientated (air) and mixed gas/bell diving techniques. The publication examines the role of the Diving Supervisor in relation to a diving operation and highlights the qualities required of a supervisor.

This publication also gives the basic requirements needed to start training as a Diving Supervisor, and outlines the normal route for gaining experience.

The essential requirements of training courses and examination courses are also dealt with.

With regard to Life Support Technicians, the publication gives a standard career progression based on experience and ability. It also details the appropriate examinations and gives objectives for training courses.

The document was last updated in 2007 to reflect the continuing focus on competence of offshore diving supervisor and life support technicians and to identify changes in the examination applicatino procedures.
