Lost Bell Survival
|
Diving bells receive all their vital resources such as breathing gas and power via an umbilical cable. In the rare event, that both this cable and the lifting wire are severed, an emergency battery will kick in, but it will not be powerful enough to provide heating. As a result, divers will be at risk from potentially fatal hypothermia.
This video and accompanying guidance note, produced by IMCA and the UK Health & Safety Executive, remind divers about the importance of using both survival bags and an individual gas heating and scrubbing unit if they find themselves in such a position.
The video opens with a simulated lost bell emergency and shows two divers responding in the right way.
The original VHS cassette has been converted and since April 2008 this video has been available on DVD, again in both PAL and NTSC formats (please state which you require when ordering).
