Neurological Assessment of a Diver
The neurological state of a diver is important for medical personnel in determining the diagnosis of an injured diver and as a guide for treatment. Life support personnel and diving supervisory staff can also benefit from the results of a neurological assessment in determining treatment protocols should medical advice be unavailable.
This IMCA video demonstrates the neurological assessment of a diver. The intention is not to set out detailed instruction on undertaking a such an assessment, but rather to aid formal training on the subject. The video is intended as an introduction to the start of structured training on undertaking such assessments and can also be used to provide refresher training.
The video shows some basic tests that every diver should be confident in being able to perform competently when needed. The accompanying notes, and commentary on the DVD are ideal training aids.
The video has been produced as a DVD-CD-print set, including accompanying notes on performing the assessment. Please state whether you require the NTSC format version (mostly for users in North America) or PAL version (most other areas, including Europe) when ordering.
