Use of Battery-Operated Equipment in Hyperbaric Conditions

IMCA has revised and republished its guidance on the use of battery-operated equipment in hyperbaric conditions, which updates and supersedes that previously issued as AODC 062 in 1993.

The guidance has been fully reviewed and updated to reflect technological developments, particularly in this era of mobile telephones, laptop computers, iPods, etc., addressing the range of hazards that may be faced and providing a set of recommendations

A summary table explains why certain equipment should never be taken into hyperbaric conditions and provides inforamtion on other items which may be potentially hazardous. The list is not exhaustive, but provides a useful reference for consideration during the essential risk assessment that should be carried out prior to taking any equipment into diving work areas.
