IMCA Guidance on Training for Specialist Vessel Personnel

IMCA's document on The Training and Experience of Key DP Personnel, recognised by IMO, sets out guidance which represents the agreed industry standard for training, competence and experience required on dynamically positioned vessels.

IMCA has also produced guidance on basic safety and familiarisation training for all personnel working on specialist vessels.

Competence

IMCA's Marine Division is as active as any other in its implementation of this key IMCA guidance, in order to ensure and demonstrate the competence of members' safety-critical personnel to clients, regulators and others. The scheme extends to nineteen separate positions, with nine different areas of operation considered for each. For further details, click here.

DP Operator Logbook Scheme

IMCA supplies logbooks for issue to dynamic positioning system (DP) operators by member companies and to individuals supplying proof of qualification. It maintains a register of the names of individuals to whom the logbooks have been issued and the issuing companies, in order to assist vessel operators in ensuring the validity of training and experience claims.
