Work Programme

The following work programme was agreed at the beginning of 2006. It sets out the technical projects to be addressed by the Marine Division over the coming year, in line with the Association's overall objectives.

 
    New projects and continuation/finalisation of projects underway:
    • Finalise draft guidance on DP for supply vessels
    • Guidance on training and competence of crane operators on construction vessels; also winch operators and use of small cranes (with the TCPC core activity)
    • Crane operations guidance generally, with focus on particular issues such as black box requirements
    • Revision of the crane specification document
    • Further development of operational communications guidance relating to crane operations
    • Reactivating the lifting incidents database
    • Abandonment and recovery (A&R) winch specification document
    • A&R and anchor handling winches operations generally
    • Crane reliability study
    • Improvement of DP reporting policies
    • DP data interpretation position paper
    • DVD-based introduction on diving from vessels of opportunity (with Diving Division)
    • DP trials for drilling rigs/revision of existing trials documents
    • Guidance on anchor handlers attached to DSVs
    • Progress work on high voltage training (with TCPC core activity)
     
  • Review/update existing guidance:
    • IMCA M 103 - Guidelines for the design and operation of dynamically positioned vessels
    • IMCA M 117 - The training and experience of key DP personnel
     
  • Ongoing initiatives:
    • Produce DP incidents report for 2004
    • Produce DP incidents report for 2005
     
  • Third-party liaison:
    • Improving links with Norwegian regulatory authorities
    • Liaison with Australian authorities
    • Monitor developments in IMO: ballast water proposals; and generally
