Previous IMCA publications have dealt with the failure modes of the Artemis Mk III and IV (105 DPVOA and 118 DPVOA). IMCA's Marine Division Management Committee decided that with the existence of these publications and those recently updating the Fanbeam laser system and reflecting the introduction of the CyScan systems (IMCA M 170 - A Review of Marine Laser Positioning Systems), an update of the publications should describe the Artemis Mk V, to provide a better overview of currently available systems.

The information below is provided with the assistance of Reson BV of Rotterdam, the world-wide sales and service agent for Artemis systems. A large amount of the text has been extracted from its manuals and arranged into a format similar to that used in IMCA M 170, so as to provide a means of comparison.
