IMCA Offshore Survey Division

Education and Training for the Offshore Survey Sector

IMCA and its members work to try to ensure the availability of sufficient personnel with the appropriate skills to sustain the global industry and continue the improvement in safe operations.

For educational establishments

Offshore survey contractors are concerned with ensuring that basic offshore surveying skills are properly covered in courses (at technician, graduate and post-graduate levels), in order for recruits to be well equipped for their new roles. IMCA has therefore developed guidance identifying the key areas that contractors expect surveyors to have knowledge of.

IMCA and its members liaise with university departments and other relevant organisations, helping them develop practical courses by offering this guidance and other assistance.

For students and potential survey recruits

IMCA also works to ensure that those interested in working in offshore surveying are able to find courses that will prepare them for joining the industry. An online course directory is available in our careers zone (replacing an earlier printed dossier in a more readily available and more easily updated format).
