My two years as IMCA President are coming to an end and I have enjoyed them immensely. This being my last President's letter, I want to reflect on this time and the word 'growth'.
- IMCA subscription fees for 2011
Every year the Overall Management Committee (OMC) reviews the IMCA membership annual subscriptions. The significant growth in membership has produced a sufficiently increased subscription income for some time to allow the subscriptions to remain unchanged since 2003. However, this year, OMC has decided to increase the subscriptions by around 6% across the board. You will see this in your annual invoice for 2011 to be issued shortly.

- IMCA publishes Safe Travel & Security DVD
Wherever you are going, travelling abroad can be exciting, stimulating and interesting. However, in some places there are obvious risks and there are precautions that everyone should take - before leaving, during the journey and while they are at their destination.

- IMCA publishes guidance on vessel assurance
IMCA has published IMCA M 204 - Vessel assurance - which aims to provide a common approach which can be adopted by vessel owners/operators as appropriate to fit in with their own systems and to satisfy their clients. This common approach aims to improve safety and efficiency for all parties.

The recent event in the US Gulf, sadly causing loss of life and severe environmental damage, has shown that the risks inherent in the offshore oil and gas business are all too real.
- IMCA Publishes SIMOPS Guidance
Doing two or more things at the same time can be difficult under any circumstances. The risks associated with simultaneous marine operations (SIMOPS) in support of offshore oil and gas exploration and production, for example, related construction and survey activities, can be great and potentially dangerous.

"The economic recession is still impacting many parts of members' work. Last year we discussed this at various IMCA events: the annual seminar learnt that Petrobras had decided positively to invest at this time because it was the right time for it, its supply chain and the Brazilian economy; our Europe & Africa section meeting in September discussed 'the role of a trade association in challenging times'; and our North America section joined with consultants Deloitte to host a forum on 'Our Journey to Recovery: The Human Capital Challenge' in November, which discussed the actions of oil majors and contractors during this strained period and the likely difficulties ahead when the industry recovers. In each case IMCA played its role as a facilitator for dialogue which we hope is beneficial for all parties."

- IMCA subscription fees frozen for 2010
Subscription fees for members of IMCA have been frozen yet again, with the continuing growth enabling the association to deliver an expanded work programme without increasing cost to members. Full details now available.
