IMCA Central & North America Section

Local Issues

The Central & North America Section is one IMCA's most active, with sub-groups being formed to mirror the global committee structure, members to provide direct input to the association's work and also to address issues of particular local interest.

The chairman of each sub-group serves on the relevant world-wide committee, ensuring strong links between the various activities.

The sub-groups provide forums of considerable expertise and experience and, since their initial establishment alongside the section in 2002, have provided considerable input to existing and draft IMCA guidance documentation, further enhancing its world-wide focus and local applicability.

Depending on their particular membership and work programme defined at a particular time, the sub-groups set their own meeting schedules, with all Contractor (ICO/Co) and Supplier (S/S*) members eligible to participate. Forthcoming meetings are set out on the regional calendar - any member interested in attending or otherwise getting involved should contact the secretariat.

Other Activities

In addition to the six sub-groups, members and the secretariat regularly liaise with other industry organisations and regulatory bodies, feeding back and seeking additional expert input at the relevant section and sub-group meetings. Examples include liaison with the US Coast Guard, member representation on the US National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee (NOSAC) and input to Brazilian regulatory review.
