Local Issues » EU Legislation
IMCA, in particular the London-based secretariat, keeps a watching brief on developments in the European Union and its members states, supported by the Brussels office of the CBI.
Members receive regular briefing notes on issues of particular interest, are included in consultation exercises and are represented to those working in European agencies and governmental representatives.
Topics of particular interest have included:
- the working time directive (see below)
- working at heights issues
- new and proposed directives on physical agents (noise, vibration, etc.).
EU Working Time Directive
In light of finalisation of the European working time directive for seafarers and offshore work, member states are implementing the directive into national law. In the UK, IMCA has been involved in a cross-industry working group which has developed guidance on these latest regulations. Members wishing to access the guidance should click the 'login' link in the top right-hand corner of this page.
