Local Issues: Renewable Energy
The Europe & Africa Section's remit and work programme vary somewhat from the Association's 'norm'. With IMCA's roots in the North Sea - where oil and gas is a mature industry - there are now new and exciting challenges as the industry consolidates and moves in new directions, for example in offshore renewable energy projects. The section's work programme provides for today's industry.
Following a well-attended seminar in Aberdeen in June 2004, it was agreed to establish a workgroup to look at the particular issues surrounding marine operations in support of renewable energy installations and operations offshore. The workgroup held its first meeting in January 2005 and is now working on addressing the various issues affecting IMCA members in the sector.
Members in the region are invited to notify the secretariat of any specific issues in this area that IMCA should be addressing. Such input is vital in identifying a strong programme of issues for it to tackle on behalf of IMCA members.
