IMCA ’s Remote Systems & ROV Division focuses on all aspects of equipment, personnel and operations relating to remotely operated systems used in support of marine activities.
As marine operations move to ever greater water depths, this division assumes increasing importance within IMCA. Remote Systems & ROV Division members use remotely operated systems to perform tasks such as drill support; subsea construction; inspecting pipelines, structures and cables; operating and maintaining valves and other moving parts on subsea manifolds; trenching for submarine cables and pipelines; seabed surveys; inspection and maintenance of platforms; and enabling video observation of both divers and underwater equipment.
IMCA's Code of practice for the safe and efficient operation of remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) plays a vital role in providing the international community with a common set of guidelines and recommendations, helping ROV operators achieve high levels of safety and efficiency.
The Remote Systems & ROV Division has published a set of contracting principles and generic contract templates for the mutual benefit of contractors and their clients.
Our guidance setting out ROV personnel entry level requirements and the framework for an introductory training course helps ensure new personnel have the skills the industry needs. We also continue to assist members in implementing personnel competence assurance and assessment schemes.
