Gangway safety: A review of recent incidents and near-misses involving vessel gangways

The Marine Safety Forum has published safety flash 13-09 reviewing a number of incidents and near misses reported by base staff involving vessel gangways. These incidents and near misses range from improperly rigged gangways and safety nets through to poor housekeeping standards with tripping hazards left on the gangway

IMCA Safety Flashes summarise key safety matters and incidents, allowing lessons to be more easily learnt for the benefit of all. The effectiveness of the IMCA Safety Flash system depends on Members sharing information and so avoiding repeat incidents.
