CEO update

Dear Members,

IMCA’s strategy in supporting our industry in the energy transition was to be the central theme of our seminar this October. Of course, the seminar has been postponed but the logic and theme are now stronger than ever. This month we saw BP unveil their new (reimagining energy) strategy to reposition themselves from an IOC (International Oil Company) to an IEC (Integrated Energy Company) and become a net zero company by 2050 or sooner. They will also be setting new expectations for relationships with trade associations like IMCA. No doubt we will see other supermajors redefining their strategies over the next year. Clearly there will be changes but also opportunities for the whole supply chain. We aim to assist our Members during this transition and the scope of our environmental sustainability committee is expanding very professionally under the leadership of IMCA’s Nadine Robinson.

Acting on UK HSE’s concerns

Last month we shared with our Members a letter IMCA had received from Trevor Johnson, UK HSE Principal Inspector of Health & Safety (read the letter). The letter was about concerns over recent incidents in the wind energy industry. In the last month we have been discussing with members what steps we could take in response to this situation and we are pleased to share an update with you.

Progressive web app for eCMID

At the end of July we launched a Progressive Web App (PWA) for our Common Marine Inspection Document system – eCMID.

For those who aren’t aware of eCMID, the system provides the marine and offshore industry with standardised formats for vessel inspection, along with safety management system (SMS) ‘health check’ and can also help improve the quality and consistency of inspections, as well as reducing the frequency of inspections on individual vessels through the adoption of a commonly recognised inspection process.
