IMCA Seminar Set To Demystify Digitalisation

Published on 8 October 2019

What does digitalisation mean for the offshore oil and gas industry in general, and for the marine contracting sector in particular? The forthcoming International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) day-long seminar with the theme ‘The Future Offshore Digital Environment’ being held in London on Tuesday 15 October aims to demystify the topic and help delegates plan for the changes ahead.

Allen Leatt, IMCA’s Chief Executive looks forward to the seminar taking place at Prince Philip House on Carlton House Terrace:

“Our members are gearing up to embrace the opportunities and challenges digitalisation will bring. We have a well-balanced programme in place for our inaugural Digitalisation Seminar, planned by our Digitalisation Committee, involving expert speakers from oil and gas operating companies; contractors and specialists in the field including Microsoft and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Our speakers will provide a stimulating overview for our audience of IMCA members and guests.

“There are still a few delegate places available and we would encourage all of those asking themselves: “How will digitalisation affect my company and my supply chain; how should I be preparing for these new technologies; and what do clients expect of me?” to reserve their seat. Like all IMCA events there will be networking opportunities throughout the day.”

The Chairman of IMCA’s Digitalisation Committee, Stefan Wierda of Fugro will chair the seminar which will be opened by Allen Leatt. Experts from Premier Oil, Equinor and BP will then give the operators’ take on the subject with presentations on ‘Beyond the digital hype – delivering a better project’; ‘The digital oil field, status and perspectives’ and ‘Fast digital imaging for inspection of underwater assets’.

Following a networking lunch WFS Technologies, Microsoft and Abyssal will share their thoughts on ‘The future of subsea digitalisation’; ‘Making it real: Case studies from offshore customers’; and ‘How to leverage subsea digitalisation to plan and control the operation of marine autonomous systems’.

Topics coming under the conference spotlight in the final session with speakers from i-tech 7, Amazon Web Services and Fugro look at ”Opportunities to transform in i-tech 7′; ‘Digital innovation on AWS for offshore technologies’ and ‘Technology in action’.

The full programme is available at www.imca-int.com/events ; those interested in attending should contact [email protected] before the 15th October. As with all IMCA technical seminars the event is free to attend for members and invited guests.
