Two new pocket safety cards From IMCA

Two new pocket safety cards have been published by the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA). IMCA’s 22nd card covers electrical hazards attracting attention with its message”electricity can kill or severely injure people and cause damage to equipment”. It details the hazards, and provides bullet points on assessing and reducing the risks of electrical shock.

The 23rd card covers noise, warning that too much noise – or prolonged exposure to it – can cause permanent and disabling hearing damage, and has some handy pointers for assessing if there is too much noise in a workplace, how to reduce exposure to noise, and how to ensure that hearing protection works properly.

“IMCA’s pocket cards highlight important safety messages in a double sided 9cm x 14cm format that workers can keep at hand, literally in their pocket,” explains IMCA’s Technical Director, Jane Bugler.”Begun in 2003, each card in the series addresses a specific aspect of offshore safety and provides a series of prompts and guidance on how a task can be completed safely, avoiding a variety of hazards.”

Printed sets of one hundred cards are available at £25 +VAT for members; and £50 +VAT for non-members, while members can download and customise the print files for their own use.
