Chief Executive

Allen is a civil engineer by professional training and has 40 years of experience with leading contractors in the offshore construction industry in technical, managerial and executive roles.

He has wide experience in marine contracting and played a senior role in the development of the integrated subsea construction business model with the formation of Coflexip Stena Offshore, which subsequently became Technip. He was the CEO of Perry Tritech based in the USA and latterly Executive VP of Technip’s SURF Product Line based in France. In 2003 he joined Stolt Offshore in 2003 in London (later renamed Acergy) as Chief Technology Officer within the executive management team, with a broad portfolio covering engineering, R&D, SCM, and an extensive fleet renewal programme. In 2011 Acergy merged with Subsea 7 and he took on the role of Senior VP for Engineering and Project Management. He joined IMCA as CEO in October 2015.

Allen is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, a first class engineer member of the Smeatonian Society, and a chartered engineer in the UK. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, a Master’s in Business Administration, and a h.c. Doctorate of Science degree.

CEO

Iain Grainger has over 30 years experience in offshore marine construction around the world. He spent the early part of his career engineering and managing the installation of major offshore infrastructure before moving into commercial and strategy roles with tier one contractors.

Iain is a chartered engineer and has an MBA. He is a past president of the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) and was previously supporting IMCA in expanding its position in offshore renewables.

On 1 June 2023, Iain became the new CEO of IMCA.

Director for Client Engagement – North America

Bruce joined the IMCA secretariat in June 2018. He knows IMCA well having been a past Vice-Chairman of the Association’s North America regional committee.

He has over 30 years’ experience in the offshore construction industry. Bruce joined Heerema Marine Contractors in 1985 and held a wide range of executive roles in developing the company’s successful market presence in North America.

Bruce was also a member of the executive committee and board of directors of the influential National Ocean Industries Association in Washington DC.

Director for Client Engagement – Europe & Africa

As director for client engagement, David supports the Association in developing and expanding its engagement with oil companies and the broader industry.

David joined the offshore industry in 1975 with Oceaneering, and during a 20 year career held various roles, including General Manager of the Southern North Sea and West African business units, before spending three years at McDermott Subsea as Business Development Manager in the North Sea and West Africa. In 1998 he joined Brown & Root as UK Business Development Manager, and in the years that followed played a crucial part in a number of significant business integrations and acquisitions leading up to the merger of Acergy and Subsea 7 in 2011.

In 2016 he was awarded the Outstanding Contribution Award at the Subsea UK annual awards.

Head of Legal & Regulatory Affairs

Margaret is a qualified maritime lawyer and chemical scientist who holds Chartered status with the Royal Society of Chemistry (CChem) and Chartered status with the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH).

Margaret has over 20 years’ experience in shipping. She previously worked for the IMO Secretariat, leading on the development of the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code and related regulations on the carriage of hazardous chemicals and noxious and polluting substances, including the HNS Convention.

Her experience also includes working for a member of the International Association of Classification Societies as a senior safety and environmental specialist, and as an expert adviser on several high-profile maritime incidents.

Events Consultant

Andrea supports our activities in the areas of marketing, communications and events.

Andrea has worked in oil and gas for most of her career gaining marketing, communications and events experience with Halliburton, McDermott International, Subsea 7 and Acergy. She also has experience working in both Civil Engineering and Defence sectors.

She has spent time working in both corporate and project roles and also spent time working on a freelance basis for a range of clients, including successfully project managing large events such as IMCA’s Annual Seminar in 2018, and many marketing and communications campaigns.

Manager Offshore Wind at Energy Institute/G+

Beate Hildenbrand represents the G+ Global Offshore Wind Health and Safety Organisation. The G+ is owned by the world’s largest offshore wind operators and WTG OEMs. It is committed to promoting and maintaining the highest possible standards of health and safety throughout the lifecycle of offshore wind farms.

With an educational background in earth science/geography Beate started her career as scientific project manager in atmospheric research and data modelling before she became Technical Manager for Environment and Health at the Energy Institute.

In 2018 she became Manager Offshore Wind at the EI supporting the G+ in delivering their work programme.  In 2019, SafetyOn the health and safety initiative for the onshore wind industry was set up in partnership with the EI and Beate also leads on this group as part of her role.

Technical Officer G+ EI

Eva Leinwather is the Technical Officer for Offshore Wind at the Energy Institute (EI) and supports the G+ Global Offshore Wind Health and Safety Organisation. Eva joined the G+ in 2021 after completing her postgraduate degree in Environmental Technology, specialising in Energy Policy.
