The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) is set to host its Europe & Africa Regional Meeting on Thursday, 19 June 2025, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in London, Bloomsbury.
A highlight of the meeting will be an exclusive session led by Margaret Fitzgerald, IMCA's Head of Legal & Regulatory Affairs. Drawing from her extensive experience, Margaret will provide delegates with an in-depth overview of IMCA's engagement with both the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and within EU policymaking arenas.

IMO Legislation: Insights into the revision of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), 1978, addressing the evolving needs of seafarer training in the context of emerging technologies and fuels.

Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships: An update on the development of a regulatory framework to accommodate the integration of autonomous vessels into global shipping operations.

EU Legislation: An update on the European Union's greenhouse gas legislation pertinent to the offshore sector, highlighting the regulatory landscape and its impact on industry practices.
Margaret's session promises to equip attendees with an overview of IMCA’s proactive engagement on the regulatory issues shaping the maritime industry's future, and setting out how Members can support these efforts.
The Europe & Africa Regional Meeting will also feature contributions from other industry experts, discuss pressing issues, trends, and developments impacting the offshore sector in these regions.
The event will see Norman Skillen, Jan De Nul’s UK General Manager, talking about decarbonisation in offshore wind construction; Nautical Institute CEO Capt. John Lloyd leading a session on global DPO qualifications; Blue Jay Communication CEO Leila Ben Hassan, who will give an address on the future of the workforce in a sustainable ocean economy; Ekkehard Stade, COO Marine at Global Maritime will discuss Marine warranty surveys; David Rodés, Chief Development Officer at Ocean Ecostructures who will speak on Empowering the ocean - marine sustainability; and Lindi Brogneri, COO of LOGiiT, who will speak on Digitalisation: A catalyst for industry transformation.
