Safety Statistics for 2022 released. Download now.

Pulling together data from across our membership base, as well as insight gleaned from our popular Safety Flashes, IMCA’s statistical report presents a snapshot of safety performance in our industry over the last calendar year.

After a challenging post-covid year in 2021, safety data is showing improving trends across the major metrics collected from incidents at contractor Members.

In addition to IMCA data, the report also features comparative figures from related stakeholder groups working in the broader industry – including G+IADC and IOGP – which allows for cross-sector comparisons.

With a split by business size, it also enables individual member firms to benchmark their own safety performance with peers of a similar stature. Some of the metrics shared include Total Recordable Injury Rate (TRIR), Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR), Safety Observation Frequency Rate (SOFR) and Fatal Accident Rate (FAR).

This is an important exercise which benefits the entire offshore sector and ensures we can measure and track our ongoing performance as an industry. Safety is paramount to everything that we do at IMCA, and these figures provide valuable insight for the industry as we aim to deliver ever more challenging projects in ever more challenging circumstances.

Safety Seminar 2023

The findings will be discussed by IMCA’s HSS Committee which meets in person in Amsterdam on Wednesday 7 June. The day before, IMCA is hosting a one day Safety Seminar featuring a range of safety presentations from members and industry stakeholders.

Some of the topics explored include: communication and the use of AI in onboarding, how we can address human factors, the importance of leadership and engagement, effective competence, and training in today’s environment, overcoming systemic barriers for women in our workplaces, and the importance of predicable performance. Attendees will also hear from Iain Graingerincoming CEO at IMCA, for his first public speaking engagement in his new role.

The Seminar will also feature the presentation of the IMCA Safety Award for 2022, with winner chosen from the shortlist of inspiring projects from ADNOCGlobal Gases GroupMMA OffshoreTechnipFMC and Transocean.

Nick added: “The IMCA HSS Committee will be pleased to see improving trends in the IMCA Safety Statistics, and we are all looking forward to our forthcoming Safety Seminar on 6 June 2023 in Amsterdam. Attendance is vital to anyone working in offshore safety and our compelling programme will be of interest to any business leader working in our sector.”
