Inside the Secretariat

Get to know more about the people who work at IMCA and their roles within the organisation.

Matthew Hawley, Marketing & Communications Assistant

  1. Name?  Matthew Hawley
  1. When did you join IMCA?  I Joined IMCA in August 2021.
  1. What do you do within IMCA? I am currently an assistant in the Marketing & Communications department. Regular tasks may include content creation for our social media channels, updating the website, mailouts (including the Digest and Safety Flash), helping to push the events we run/ support and contributing to our Making Waves publication.
  1. What are you most excited for IMCA in the future? I’m very excited for IMCA’s live events. Our DP Conference will be the first IMCA event I attend and will be an amazing chance to see the product of something we’ve all worked so hard to create. It’s nice to see the industry get back to some normality after a couple of years of webinars.
  1. What’s the best thing about working for IMCA?  The best thing for me is the opportunity to work with amazing talent and expertise everyday – everyone is so knowledgeable in their area of work, be it in IT, Marketing, or the more technical elements of IMCA. The varied nature of my role always keeps things new and interesting.
  1. What’s the biggest change you have seen in IMCA since you joined?  Being relatively new, the biggest change I’ve seen is the opening of our new office at 66 Buckingham Gate. Being involved with the office move project was a great opportunity to see how that process is managed and it has been amazing to see it all come to fruition.
  1. What did you want to be when you were growing up?  Very cliché: a footballer. I spent countless hours growing up playing football up until university, even playing with crowds of up to 1,000ish people.
  1. Who’s your hero? Who else other than Super Franky Lampard!
