Diving Supervisor
Covering all offshore personnel either acting as a Diving Supervisor, or gaining experience to become one. It applies to personnel supervising dives in the water using air and bell diving techniques.

Other diving roles
Several IMCA-approved third-party preparatory courses for the Diving Supervisor, Diving Systems Inspector (ADSI), and Life Support Technician certification programmes are available.

A number of other diving roles are not directly approved or certified by IMCA, but further details can be found below:
IMCA has published Guidance on Diving Technician competence and training but does not approve or certify training or individuals.
You can read this guidance in Dive Technician competence and training (IMCA D001).
Training providers teaching IMCA-approved Diver Medic courses issue IMCA-recognised certificates to suitably qualified diving personnel who attend and pass an IMCA-approved course.
These providers can be found in our directory of approved training courses. Certificates can be checked using our verification portal.
IMCA does not approve or certify Diving Doctors, and refers to the independent Diving Medical Advisory Committee (DMAC) for approval of training courses in diving medicine.
IMCA guidance recognises selected initial diver training certificates (both surface supplied and closed bell) for areas of the world not already covered by regulatory restrictions.
For diving under the IMCA international code of practice for offshore diving, IMCA only recognises the diver (and diving supervisor) training certificates listed in the current version of Diver and Diving Supervisor certification (IMCA IN 1256).
No other initial diver training certificates are currently recognised by IMCA.

In regulated waters, more restrictive lists of certificates accepted by local regulatory authorities may apply.
In-Water Diving Training Schools
In-water diver training schools which offer courses leading to IMCA-recognised certification can register as a non-member subscriber.
These schools can pay an annual fee to gain access to key documents in IMCA’s diving technical library. Unless schools offer other IMCA-approved courses, they are not members of the Association.
Schools wishing to register for the scheme should complete the application form. Subject to confirmation from the certifying authority and payment of an annual fee, schools will be provided with document access via our website and will be listed on our site. Find out more in our information note.
