Call for papers for joint SUT/THSiS/IMCA seminar ‘The Leading Edge Of Value-Based Subsea Inspection’

A call for papers has been issued for the Society for Underwater Technology (SUT), the Hydrographic Society in Scotland and the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) joint seminar, which this year has the theme ‘The Leading Edge of Value-Based Subsea Inspection’.  It is available at www.sut.org/event/call-for-papers-the-leading-edge-of-value-based-subsea-inspection/. The seminar will be held in Aberdeen on 1 November 2017.

Much like other industries the members of the three bodies have experienced a tremendous rate of development in technological capability which has enhanced the efficiency of their operations. These include a significant decline in the cost of data processing and storage; miniaturisation of subsea sensors; increased computing capacity; quick, reliable, wireless communications; increased utilisation of subsea robotics; and sophisticated data analytics and artificial intelligence. However, within a cost constrained environment, stakeholders must drive development towards a value-based solution.

‘The Leading Edge of Value-Based Subsea Inspection’ aims to identify these innovative methods, and sensors that are focused on providing solutions to the challenges of subsea inspection and surveillance

Abstracts are now being accepted for consideration, which will be of interest to members of all three organisations. They should be approximately 150 words and be for a 20-minute presentation. The seminar aims to challenge and educate the attendees on innovative technologies for value-based subsea inspection and monitoring. The list of proposed areas is online. Abstracts should be submitted to [email][email protected][/email] by 18 August 2017. Speakers will be advised by the end of September 2017 whether or not their abstract has been accepted.
