CEO Update – January/February 2022

Welcome everyone to the first issue of Making Waves for 2022. We started off the year on a positive note with the launch of the Environmental Sustainability Committee’s online Self-Assessment Tool which will enable Members to track their progress against IMCA’s recommended code of practice on environmental sustainability. As I have said before, environmental sustainability is fast becoming a business imperative, and this tool is another step for our Members on the journey towards net zero.

I would like to extend a warm welcome to Stephen Peet who joined us recently as Technical Director. Stephen is a mechanical engineer with a wealth of experience gained with Wood Group, KBR, GE, British Gas, and Oceaneering. Mark Ford will now take on the role of Marine & Quality Manager to focus on building upon the excellent work he has achieved in leading in our Marine Technical Division and our quality management programme.

Also, in this issue we remember Pete Somner who died suddenly on 16 December 2021. Pete was a leading member of IMCA’s Marine Committee, including a spell as Chair, and over the years has been very influential in the growth and development of IMCA. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him in our industry.

I wish you all the very best in the coming year.
