The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) has appointed Jason Veerasingam as Director of Client Engagement – Asia-Pacific. Jason Veerasingam is experienced in working with engineering consultants, leading EPC contractors and offshore service providers. In the last 25 years, his focus in the South East Asia market has enabled him to build successful business development strategies for national and international companies in the region. His last role was as the Area Manager at Boskalis Offshore. Moving from principle to practice

The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) has launched a new online self-assessment tool to enable Members to track their progress against Environmental Sustainability expectations in their Recommended Code of Practice launched last year. The tool, which has been developed for IMCA Members’ internal use, presents their self-assessment score and, once sufficient submissions have been made by other IMCA Members, a comparison with other users’ outcomes is given. IMCA appoints new Technical Director

The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) welcomes Stephen Peet as Technical Director. Stephen Peet brings a wealth of experience to IMCA having held senior positions with Wood Group and KBR following earlier career roles at GE and British Gas. IMCA finalises Guidelines for Walk to Work (W2W) Operations

The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) has expanded its ‘Guidelines for Walk to Work (W2W) Operations’ (IMCA M254). Originally published in October 2020, the guidelines were produced to help standardise the way in which vessels give personnel safe access to offshore structures, both in the wind and oil & gas industries, and were developed under the direction of IMCA’s Marine Division Management Committee. The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) has published on its website a new Information Note that should be of interest to the offshore oil and gas and renewable energy industries based on a new development related to enforcement of the Jones Act and Vessel Crewing. Specifically, stakeholders should be aware of the evolving methods used by pro-Jones Act advocates to draw attention to offshore operations that they claim to be noncompliant with applicable coastwise and vessel crewing laws. Importance of COVID-19 Vaccination to the Offshore Diving Community Stressed

The Diving Medical Advisory Committee (DMAC) has issued new a position statement on the importance of COVID-19 vaccination for offshore divers. DMAC’s statement at www.dmac-diving.org/guidance/DMAC-Statement-202110.pdf makes it clear that the known risks of COVID-19 illness and its related, possibly severe complications, far outweigh the potential risks of having an extremely rare serious adverse reaction to vaccination. DMAC strongly recommends that offshore divers and diving personnel follow national recommendations for primary vaccinations and booster doses; and that: “diving contractors wishing to control risks as far as reasonably practicable should take account of this, within the applicable legislative framework”. Bill has 25 years of experience in the commercial diving industry. He joins IMCA having worked at the UK Health & Safety Executive (HSE) for 12 years as a Diving Specialist Inspector regulating the safety of divers working in the offshore energy and other sectors of the diving industry.
